Reddish Blu

How did I discover Reddish Blu (RB)? I was following Adam22 and Lena The Plug on social media and they went to a party where Reddish Blu was performing. I saw this cute girl with blue and purple hair hanging with them and I thought she was so cool. Turns out Reddish Blu is a singer and I managed to catch snippets of her performance on Snapchat and Instagram; I loved all the snippets I heard.

The 19 year old Massachusetts born artist now resides in LA and exploded onto the scene in 2017 with her first song ‘Lost in LA’ on Soundcloud; the song has since been deleted and she released ‘Not Here But Here’as her first single also on Soundcloud; she has now also branched out onto Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.

The first song I listened to by her was ‘when i get too sad’; this is still one of my favourite songs by RB. The introduction to the song is instrumental and sounds very orchestral with lots of strings. This song really resonates with me; in the chorus she sing ‘when I get to too sad I get to thinking, and then when I think things I get to drinking, and drinking leads me to saying things that I don’t mean’. Unfortunately, this is something that occurs with me regularly and I can really relate as I’m sure other people can too.  In the outro of the song she ‘Please forgive me for that oh no, it’s my bad. I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?’ The amount of times I’ve recited that line during my lifetime is unbelievable but it brings me comfort knowing other people do the same.

Another one of my personal favourites is ‘You’re So Beautiful’. 2017 was a hard year for me and this song dropped just when it needed to, when I was at one of my lowest points. It’s such a positive, chill song that you can’t help but get in a good mood when you listen to it. The chorus to the song she sings ‘You’re so beautiful, incase you didn’t know I just had to let you know my love.; continue to shine, you are the light of life.’ That has to be one of my favourite lyrics of all time and I still use it till this day as my mantra.’ You’re so beautiful is her most played song on all platforms.

She has also released songs ‘Quite Like Me’‘SBA’ and ‘FoolForYou’ which I really like.  I’ve noticed a pattern most of her songs begin with a chorus which really grabs you and is why her songs are so popular; they’re also very catchy. She makes songs for when you’re sitting alone late at night. The balance between her voice and the production is always perfect; her beat choices are mainly dreamy lo-fi or ambient which can’t really be explained in words. Her music doesn’t fit into any specific genre, it’s very unique. Her music is very intimate and you can tell they’re a form of self expression. She is very outspoken on her social media platforms which I think is important; no one likes an artist who is a sheep and just follows the crowd. Every fan that reaches out to RB she interacts with.

In the near future we can look forward to an EP, tour and a lot more music. I predict big things for Reddish Blu and I cant wait to see her grow and progress.
