Brix & The Extricated

British post punk band Brix & The Extricated were formed in 2014 in Manchester by ex The Fall band members, Brix Smith Start (vocals/guitar) and Steve Hanley (bass guitar); the band also consists of Paul Hanley, Steve Trafford and Jason Brown. They’re signed to Blang Records.

The band formed just after Steve H’s autobiography ‘The Big Midweek’ launch event. Four of the five members had been in The Fall at some point minus Irish guitarist Jason. They spend most of their time at live shows performing songs that they’d co written from their Fall days but lately, their shows consist of their own releases from 2017.

The have performed three live sessions for ex-Fall member, Marc Riley’s, BBC 6 Music Show; they’ve also played Latitude and Rebellion festival as well as completing several UK tours. They released their debut album ‘Part 2‘ in September 2017 via Blang Records. Their autumn tour concluded with a gig at the Manchester Apollo supporting The Charlatans.

It has since been announced that on Wednesday the 21st March, the ‘Uncaged’ documentary – about Brix & The Extricated – will be premiering at the prestigious 100 Club on Oxford St, London and will be opening this years ‘SoundScreenFest’. The screening is going to be followed by a live set by the band. This documentary includes that band talking openly and frankly about their time in ‘The Fall,’ their passion for music and their aspirations going forth for the future. We are also lucky enough to see unseen behind the scenes footage which will be featuring in the documentary. We can’t wait to go and see this on Wednesday and keep your eyes peeled on the site for our review after the event.
