Kerrang! Magazine Reboot

By Destiny Crawford-Corri

Well well well it’s been quite a while since I have read Kerrang! Magazine although i still regularly tuned into their TV channel. So I’m very excited to see that they’ve made some changes. Kerrang has had a complete revamp not only in design but they have revealed plans to expand by opening offices in America. With this new change comes a new team to work across print and digital.

Kerrang! will be launching their new thicker, better quality, matte varnished cover on Wednesday 7th March. They’ve got four exclusive covers planned for this month starting off with alternative hottie Oli Sykes from BMTH.  I absolutely love both Oli and BMTH and I’m excited to them rekindle a relationship with the magazine. It will also include features with Corey Taylor, Shirley Manson and Judas Priest.

This is what we know so far about the new team: Nick Ruskell has been promoted to senior editor in chief where he’ll be in charge of reviews, exclusively new songs, playlists and any new music; Emily Carter is the news editor across all platforms; Dave Mclaughin is now associate editor responsible for feature content: Tom Shepherd has made the transition from Shortlist to become the production editor; Bob Foster is the new digital editor who has given the magazine a fresh new look and last but not least Ethan Fixell who is the US executive director.

I feel like this new approach will draw in more readers and increase their reputation; a lot of people weren’t happy with the content or the editors of the magazine before so I see this as a fresh start which hopefully will be a success.
