40 Years of Scratchy Sounds: Barry ‘Scratchy’ Myers first professional gigs date back to late 1975 at London’s notorious Speakeasy, moving on in ’76 to a two-year residency at the decks of Dingwalls Dancehall. A couple of tours with Dr.Feelgood were followed by two years as the Clash’s tour DJ. Scratchy was back on the road spinning alongside Joe Strummer again with The Mescaleros in the new millenium, touring and gigging since then with The Pogues, Gogol Bordello, The Dead Brothers, Groundation, The Urban Voodoo Machine, Mimi Maura (from Argentina/Puerto Rico), Kitty Daisy & Lewis, The Man (from Japan) and The Slackers, also teaming up with their Vic Ruggiero for the Vic’n’Scratchy show. Scratchy continues to travel the globe in his own right, setting festivals, concerts and clubs from Brazil to China alight with his fiery Scratchy Sounds sets of The Rock and The Roll of The World and those of Roots Rockin’ Rhythms and Blues.
